M23 Rebels Temporarily Ceasefire to Allow Humanitarian Aid Intervention

CONGO: The M23 rebels and its allies in the Eastern Democratic Republic of Congo have reportedly announced a temporary ceasefire on Tuesday in order to allow humanitarian assistance to intervene.

It is further noted that after capturing Goma city, hundreds of civilians have been wounded, while there is insufficient water, food and electrical supplies.

This comes after pressure from the United Nations Security Council and SADC to end war, establish a humanitarian corridor and the withdrawal of external forces in DRC.
